Health care is about more than financing and delivery. It’s about the answers to some very fundamental questions: Are we there for each other when we are at our most vulnerable? Do we believe that good health leads to good outcomes – like a stronger economy, more cohesive communities and more fulfilling lives? No single health care system in the world is perfect. But as every system struggles to meet community needs at an affordable cost, clarity on values, not just value, is the right place to start. Drawing on her experience as an active primary care physician, hospital leader and policy change agent in Canada, Danielle Martin will reflect on the strengths and challenges facing Canada’s health care system and offer up lessons for America’s reforms that build on shared values.
